The Handpicked Education
The Handpicked Education is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to support families who are choosing a thoughtful, flexible, and connected approach to learning.
We serve homeschool and alternative-education families by offering enrichment programs, nature groups, workshops, clubs, and community gatherings that meet families where they are. Our goal is to make meaningful education accessible, supportive, and sustainable — especially for families navigating unique medical, learning, or life challenges.
Through low cost and community-supported programs, we help families build confidence, connection, and clarity in their educational journey.
About Us
The Handpicked Education was founded by two mothers, Allison and Ashlee, who found themselves navigating homeschooling after their children experienced serious medical challenges.
What began as a search for answers and support quickly became a shared mission: to create the kind of community they wished had existed when they were starting out.
Through their own experiences, they saw how isolating and overwhelming it can be for families — especially those caring for children with medical or special learning needs — to find reliable resources, encouragement, and connection.
Today, Handpicked Education offers families a place to learn, grow, and belong through programs like our Nature Group Co-Op, Fishing Club, Book Clubs, Life Skills classes, Homeschool Support, Handpicked Conversations, and more.
Everything we do is rooted in relationship, trust, and the belief that families thrive when they are supported — not rushed or pressured.

Mission:
Our mission is to support families as they intentionally choose an education that reflects their children’s needs, their values, and their long-term goals.
Through community, enrichment programs, and practical support, we help families grow in confidence and wisdom as they navigate their homeschool journey. We believe learning should be thoughtful, meaningful, and rooted in strong relationships — not rushed or one-size-fits-all.
We exist to walk alongside families, offering trusted resources, encouragement, and spaces where children and parents can flourish.

Hi! Allison here!
I have been homeschooling my children for over 6 years, starting with my oldest child in preschool. I hope that my experience over the years as both a homeschool teacher and a child development nerd can be of service to you and your family! Take a look around the website and if you have any questions, don’t be afraid to reach out!
All the best,

The Handpicked Education
After ten years of homeschooling my own kids, I can confidently say I have definitely felt both throughout the years.
So this month, I want to share a gentle reminder: you’re not behind. This is actually a perfect moment to re-evaluate what’s working in your homeschool and what isn’t. Every January I pause and I ask myself, “Is our schedule serving us? Are the classes we’re taking still a good fit? Is the curriculum clicking? Too easy? Too hard? I don’t overhaul everything, but this is the time I allow myself to shift what needs shifting to help us all be more successful.
