The Handpicked Education
Mission:
Our mission is to combat the rising statistics of mental, behavioral and developmental health disorders growing among families in the United States. By providing opportunities to learn and apply emotional, social and life skills to all children and adults, we hope to provide tools and resources that will last them a lifetime.
About Us…
The Handpicked Education started as a means for two families to share their journey as homeschoolers together. As the journey progressed, we learned so much about the different needs of our children and found that there were many more families who also found themselves thrown into the world of homeschooling unexpectedly.
As the statistics continue to rise for children diagnosed with mental health disorders in the United States, with social media, the ever changing internet, and the continued push for our children to achieve things that are not age appropriate, the age of bullying, child suicide, drug use and addiction has started younger and younger in children. While already not providing necessary information, skills, and mechanisms to help manage the stress of their expectations, schools continue to cut funding to education lowering their standards of care, teaching, and overall advocacy of the whole child.
The Handpicked Education sees a gap. As adults co-existing with similar struggles of our own, the reality of our children also experiencing these hurdles is inevitable. We’ve created this program to assist parents and children in learning strategies to help regulate and gain important life skills that are not taught in a traditional school setting, as we believe these skills are vital and a tremendous missing component of today’s current education system.
By providing community support for parents through parent workshops + classes, The Handpicked Education seeks to reach across the curriculum, involving children and their whole family in their own academic journey.
We hope to educate and empower families with the necessary tools to create safe spaces for growth to confidently navigate their life combating the rising statistics of mental, behavioral and developmental disorders that often lead to a lifetime of struggles. We hope our model will promote community and growth among families while building up the next generation of future leaders and citizens.
